An Indy native, Chris Huxhold was close to his grandfather, both relationally and geographically. A Lutheran pastor at Our Redeemer, 30th and College, Rev. Harry Huxhold was committed to racial reconciliation, unity, and family and youth through Lutheran Child and Family services. He wasn’t just a mentor, he was a hero with a servant heart, and greatly influenced his young grandson toward a passion for the same.
A graduate of North Central High School and Purdue University (double major in management and accounting with a minor in finance), Huxhold came back to Indy after college graduation and began a career in auditing that has, over time, morphed into his current position as vice president of finance for Casted, a marketing technology company backed by venture capital.
“I love to partner with visionaries and help them operationalize and actualize their dream,” he says, “and to help a founding team invest well and chart efficient paths to growth and their goals.”
The way God has wired him manifests both at work and in his personal life.
“Professionally, there’s a lot of change that comes with being part of a tech company, and I enjoy equipping the team for impact. I can see inherent giftings and like to call that out in people.”
In his personal life, he is drawn to opportunities working with men at church, in small groups, on retreats, and through Brookside Community Development Corp, where he serves as treasurer for the board of directors currently and has also invested over the years in men reentering society from incarceration, addiction and homelessness.
He puts his personal mission very simply: “God created me to restore worth in the world around me.”
Huxhold is the father of Hudson, 8, and together they share a great love of soccer. Active in men’s and family ministry at Traders Point Midtown Campus, he got the chance to baptize Hudson there in September, an event reminiscent of his grandfather baptizing him as a boy.
In addition to his work through the church, Huxhold has helped start several men’s groups to foster community since the pandemic including an annual retreat for eight friends, a SaaS (software as a service) group for financial leaders, and a non-denominational gathering called “Intentional Collisions” that includes dinner and conversation at a different home every two months. Please contact him at his email address below if you’d like to be invited to Intentional Collisions.

HUXHOLD’S IDEAS FOR A BETTER INDY
- MEN NEED TRUSTED COMMUNITY TO GROW AND BE SHARPENED. “We’ve been through so much,” he says of the last few years. “We have a mental health epidemic and it’s tough to make good decisions if you’re in a weak state, unwell mentally, spiritually, or physically. Most men present with, ‘Hey, I’m okay.’ But we’re not in a good place until we can answer the tough questions and stop treating the symptoms. We live in a comfort-seeking, image-conscious world with chronic anxiety and misplaced identity and I’ve seen a lot of men not taking care of themselves so they can lead well; not prioritizing time for things that lead to wellness. That means pursuing trusted community, then trusting that community with the most difficult things in your life. In that vulnerability you grow. We have a failure of leadership not due to potential, but because we’re not taking care of ourselves.”
- MORE INTENTIONAL COLLISIONS. In a similar vein, Huxhold believes men need to be more intentional in finding time with one another to build solid friendships, share stories, and be encouraged to be the leaders God intends for them to be in our world.
- HELP BRIDGE SOMEONE ELSE’S CLIMB OUT OF THE PIT. Huxhold himself has been to the pit after divorce shook his life. In 2017, he went through a rebirth in his spiritual life. “It’s been an incredible journey since,” he says. “I shed a lot of expectations, of trying to look a certain way so I can be approved, and God began ushering in something new. My faith went from religion to relationship.” In recent years, Huxhold turned around to walk another man toward emotional, physical and spiritual health (through Brookside). Watching his new friend eventually rise to the point of giving back to others and serving at Wheeler Mission in Bloomington has been rewarding for his own journey. Parts of Huxhold’s story were shared as a video testimony with the Traders Point Community, and can be found at this link.
- UTILIZE GROUPS LIKE C7 TO KEEP FUELING YOUR OUTWARD JOURNEY. Huxhold says that seeking out relationships that will grow you so you can lead well is necessary. “When people participate in something like C7, we can learn from each other’s experiences, meet people we wouldn’t normally meet, and grow in ways we might not choose for ourselves. It’s so easy to dismiss,” he says, “but we’ve got to stop being so inwardly focused.”
